1. General information

1.1. Aims of the course

The subject and its expected results respond to the following approaches and objectives:

The general objective of this subject is that the student, from the knowledge of its contents, should be able to explain the pathologies of communication and intervention techniques, applied to the professional development of Occupational Therapy

These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations       2030 agenda (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), in such a way that the acquisition of the results of Subject learning provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to its achievement.

Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.
Goal 5: Gender Equality.

1.2. Context and importance of this course in the degree

The course aims to complement the occupational therapy, work by providing them with new instruments to detect, diagnose and correct the different pathologies of communication, either alone or within interdisciplinary groups, in order to achieve a more effective adaptation and readaptation to the individual's social and working life.

2.2. Learning goals

In order to pass this course the student must be able to:

1- Analyze, synthesize and relate the fundamental concepts of communication pathologies.

2- Correctly apply these concepts to the field of Occupational Therapy.

3- Know both at a theoretical and practical level the techniques of diagnosis and intervention in the pathologies of the communication.

2.3. Importance of learning goals

They will allow the student to be better prepared to understand the theoretical and methodological foundations of occupational therapy, with a global vision of the human being and therefore, to be better able to start planning professional action in situations of illness and physical, mental and sensory disability throughout the life cycle of the person.

3. Assessment (1st and 2nd call)

3.1. Assessment tasks (description of tasks, marking system and assessment criteria) 

The student must demonstrate that they have achieved the expected learning outcomes through the followingcontinuous assessment activities:

Evaluation activities:

1.-Active and efficient participation: the student must show that he knows how to apply the theoretical bases of the subject in the resolution of questions or practical assumptions, with a precise, clear and argued language.

2.-Three evaluation tests.

The first at the end of the exposition of the two introductory themes and theme three dedicated to deafness.

The second at the end of the presentation of the three topics dedicated to pathologies of central origin: aphasia, cerebral palsy   and language development disorders.

The third at the end of the presentation of production disorders: stuttering, voice and articulation disorders.

Each test will be held the week after the last corresponding topic has been completed.

The type of test will be five questions of theoretical development or resolution of a practical assumption.

The score will be two points per question, accounting for a maximum score of 10 points per exam.

Final and global exam for students who have not obtained more than 15 points in the total computation of the three evaluations.

This final test will consist of 10 questions of theoretical development or resolution of a practical assumption of an assessment    point.

The answers to the questions must adhere to the precise and complete explanation of the concepts and contents that are           indicated in the statement, as well as demonstrate that they have been correctly understood and assimilated.

Rating system

The final grade for the subject results from the following weighting.

Or the average of the three continuous assessment tests, being necessary to obtain 15 points or more to pass the subject.

Or the result of the global test, being necessary to obtain 5 points or more to pass the subject.

4. Methodology, learning tasks, syllabus and resources

4.1. Methodological overview

The learning process that has been designed for this subject will result from the following:

Knowledge will be acquired by applying different methodologies: on the one hand in the theoretical classes the participation of the students will be encouraged as well as the presentation of some of the subjects of the program, and on the other hand, it will be complemented in the consultation hours in which the students will have the opportunity to learn individually and directly. 

4.2. Learning tasks 

The program offered to the student to help him achieve the expected results includes the following activities.

1.- Theoretical face-to-face classes (40h).

 Teaching methodology: Master class.

2.- Resolution of tasks, problems and practical cases related to the teaching given (10h)

Teaching methodology: carrying out tasks related to the subjects of the subject and its evaluation. Aspects that the student will record throughout the course and that will help him to self-assess his achievements in the subject.

3.- Study and other activities of personal work of the student (70h)

4.- Tutoring of the student: individualized work through which it will be possible to carry out a continuous monitoring of the        evolution of the teaching-learning process of each student, as well as to enhance it using motivation techniques towards personaleffort.

4.3. Syllabus

The course will address the following topics: 

1. Concept and aims of speech therapy. 

2. The development of language. 

3. Deafness.

4. Aphasia.

5. Speech therapy and cerebral palsy.

6. Developmental language disorders.

7. Fluency Disorders: Stuttering.

8. The voice: pathology and treatment.

4.4. Course planning and calendar 

Theoretical classes will be compulsory and will be developed during the 1st and 3rd modules in the proportion established by the Department and the Center and complying with the POD of the teaching staff.

-Theoretical classes and resolution of problems and cases in a large group: 3h/week throughout the 1st and 3rd modules

-Delivery of material related to the topics developed during the course that complement the teacher's explanations and bring the student closer to the practical assumptions.

-Assessment tests as indicated in section 3 Evaluation.

1. Información Básica

1.1. Objetivos de la asignatura

La asignatura y sus resultados previstos responden a los siguientes planteamientos y objetivos:

El objetivo general de esta asignatura es que el alumno, a partir del conocimiento de sus contenidos, sea capaz de explicar las patologías de la comunicación y las técnicas de intervención, aplicados al desarrollo profesional de la Terapia Ocupacional.

Estos planteamientos y objetivos están alineados con los siguientes Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de la agenda 2030 de Naciones Unidas (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), de tal manera que la adquisición de los resultados de aprendizaje de la asignatura proporciona capacitación y competencia para contribuir en cierta medida a su logro.

1.2. Contexto y sentido de la asignatura en la titulación

La asignatura complementará la actuación del terapeuta ocupacional, dotándole de nuevos instrumentos para detectar, diagnosticar y corregir las diferentes patologías de la comunicación. Para, bien solo o en el seno de grupos interdisciplinares, consiga una más eficaz adaptación y readaptación a la vida social del individuo.

Se recomineda consultar la información que sobre la asignatura aparece en el Moodle para planificar desde el principio del curso el trabajo personal, trabajo que será indispensable para alcanzar los resutados de aprendizaje previstos y la progresiva adquisición de competencias.

2.2. Resultados de aprendizaje

El estudiante, para superar esta asignatura, deberá demostrar los siguientes resultados...

1-    Analiza, sintetiza y relaciona los conceptos fundamentales de las patologías de la comunicación.

2-    Aplica correctamente  estos conceptos al campo de la Terapia Ocupacional.

3-    Conoce tanto a nivel teórico como práctico las técnicas de intervención en las patologías de la comunicación.

 

2.3. Importancia de los resultados de aprendizaje

Van a permitir al alumno estar más preparado para comprender los fundamentos teóricos y metodológicos de la Terapia Ocupacional con una visión global del ser humano y por tanto, estar más capacitado para iniciarse en la planificación argumentada de la actuación profesional en situaciones de enfermedad/discapacidad física, psíquica, sensorial o situación de marginación a lo largo del ciclo vital de la persona.

 

3. Evaluación

3.1. Tipo de pruebas y su valor sobre la nota final y criterios de evaluación para cada prueba

El estudiante deberá demostrar que ha alcanzado los resultados de aprendizaje previstos mediante las siguientes actividades de evaluación continua:

Actividades de evaluación

      1.-Participación activa y eficiente: el alumno deberá demostrar que sabe aplicar las bases teóricas de la asignatura en la resolución de cuestiones o supuestos prácticos, con un lenguaje preciso, claro y argumentado.

       2.-Tres pruebas de evaluación.

  • La primera al finalizar la exposición de los dos temas introductorios y el tema tres dedicado a la sordera.
  • La segunda al finalizar la exposición de los tres temas dedicados a las patologías de origen central: las afasias, la parálisis cerebral y los trastornos del desarrollo del lenguaje.
  • La tercera al finalizar la exposición de los trastornos de la producción: la tartamudez, la voz y los trastornos de la articulación.

Cada prueba se realizará a la semana siguiente de haber finalizado el último tema correspondiente.

El tipo de prueba será de cinco preguntas de desarrollo teórico o de resolución de un supuesto práctico. La puntuación será de dos puntos por pregunta, contabilizándose una puntuación máxima de 10 puntos por examen.

Examen final y global para los alumnos que no hayan obtenido más de 15 puntos en el cómputo total de las tres evaluaciones. Esta prueba final constará de 10 preguntas de desarrollo teórico o de resolución de un supuesto práctico de un punto de valoración. Las respuestas a las preguntas deberán atenerse a la explicación precisa y completa de los conceptos y contenidos que se indiquen en el enunciado, así como demostrar que se han entendido y asimilado correctamente estos.

La calificación final de la asignatura corresponderá con: 

  • el promedio de las tres pruebas de evaluación continua, siendo necesario el obtener 15 puntos o más para superar la asignatura.
  • el resultado de la prueba global siendo necesario obtener 5 puntos o más para superar la asignatura.

4. Metodología, actividades de aprendizaje, programa y recursos

4.1. Presentación metodológica general

El proceso de aprendizaje que se ha diseñado para esta asignatura se basa en lo siguiente:

Los  conocimientos se adquirirán aplicando diferentes metodologías: por un lado en las clases teóricas donde se potenciará la participación de los alumnos así como la exposición en las mismas de alguno de los temas del programa, por otro se completará en las horas de tutoría en las que los alumnos tendrán la oportunidad de aprender de forma individualizada y directa.

4.2. Actividades de aprendizaje

El programa que se ofrece al estudiante para ayudarle a lograr los resultados previstos comprende las siguientes actividades.

1.- Clases presenciales teóricas (40h).

 Metodología de enseñanza: Clase magistral.

2.- Resolución de tareas, problemas y casos prácticos relativos a la docencia impartida (10h)

 Metodología de enseñanza: realización de tareas relacionadas con los temas de la asignatura y con su evaluación. Aspectos que el alumno irá consignando a lo largo del curso y que  le servirán para autoevaluar sus logros en la asignatura.

3.- Estudio y otras actividades de trabajo personal del alumno (70h)

4.- Tutorización del alumno: trabajo individualizado a través del cual se podrá realizar un seguimiento continuado de la evolución del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de cada alumno, así como potenciar el mismo utilizando técnicas de motivación hacia el esfuerzo personal.

2.- El desarrollo del lenguaje.
3.- La sordera. 
4.- Las Afasias.
5.- Logopedia y parálisis cerebral. 
6.-Trastornos del desarrollo del lenguaje.
7.- Trastornos de la fluidez: la tartamudez. 
8.- La voz: patología y tratamiento.
9.- Trastornos de la articulación.

 

 

4.4. Planificación de las actividades de aprendizaje y calendario de fechas clave

Las clases teóricas serán obligatorias y se desarrollarán durante los módulos 1º y 3º en la proporción establecida por el Departamento y el Centro y cumpliendo el POD del profesorado.

-Clases teóricas y resolución de problemas y casos en gran grupo: 3h/semana a lo largo de un semestre.

-Entrega de material relativo a los temas desarrollados durante el curso que complementen las explicaciones del profesor y acerquen al aluno a los supuestos prácticos.

-Pruebas de evaluación tal y como se indican en el apartado 3 Evaluación.
